Rochdale Hospice 2009 Calendar Launched

The Springhill Hospice 2009 Calendar and programme of fund rasing events was unveiled at the annual Calendar Launch evening held at the hospice premises on Thursday 28 August.

A lighthearted and fun evening was hosted by the Hospice's Chief Fundraiser, Ian Jenkins, who also provided an amusing summary of the past year's events.

Chief Executive Chris Webb was also on hand to provide details of the ongoing refurbishment and renewals project for the building now approaching its twentieth birthday year.

Sedgwick Phelan has had a long association with Rochdale's hospice over many years past and as in previous years is pleased to continue as one of the clendar's sponsors.

The calendar is proced at £3.50 and provides a selection of photographs showing the diverse, often surprising and occasionally beautiful views that life in Rochdale Borough offers. The photographs also double up as postcards that can be sent to friends and family.

During the last financial year Sedgwick Phelan was involved in a number of fund raising events and invited Ian Jenkins to a successful fund raiser and to meet guests at the firm's SPACE 'launch' hosted by Britain's rocket man Steve Bennett of the Starchaser project. SPACE is the firm's personal injury claims service.

The Hospice opened in 1989, providing specialist palliative care for people with life-limiting illness and is an independent charitable organisation. It relies almost entirely for funding on voluntary contributions in order to keep the doors open to the people of Rochdale Borough and the surrounding area.

Partner Peter Carey who attended the event with his wife Maureen praised the work of the Hospice in the local community and commented: "Segwick Phelan is delighted to continue a long association with the Hospice. Personally, I am also pleased to have witnessed the superb standard of care offered by this facility, which I know also provides tremendous support and comfort for those of us who have experienced loved ones needing palliative care".

Ian Jenkins also anounced a planned sponsored parachute jump event for October.

Anyone with a keen sense of adventure and willing to hurl themselves from an aircraft for the very best of reasons should contact Ian Jenkins or the Fundraising team on 01706 711144, or call in to their office at 427 Oldham Road, Rochdale.
